Tony Charles’ solo exhibition gives us an insight into his current practice;
Tony Charles is an international artist based in the North East of England where influences of an industrial backdrop continue to feature within his work. Drawings and installation are often created in response to a location during various residencies. These contexts inspire work that is underpinned by his interest in the current post-industrial era and its ever changing ‘work-scape’. Many of his investigations have focussed upon collisions between industrial and domestic environments through the use of disparity between object and material, resulting in many hybrids of these bi-polar worlds.
The current investigation is a continuation of the ‘Vestiges’ series which explores issue and irony between the industrial and technological revolutions.
